Sick Visits Q & A

What are sick visits?

Sick visits are health care appointments that address illnesses and injuries that arise suddenly. At Prosperity Health and Wellness, Melinda provides medical care for acute (minor) illnesses and injuries.

Many adults put off sick visits in hopes that they will feel better soon. However, in some cases, symptoms may be long-lasting and require medical intervention to recover properly.

Melinda is an experienced primary care nurse practitioner who can give you helpful advice on how to manage your symptoms.

When is the best time to schedule sick visits?

You should schedule a sick visit whenever you’re not feeling well and need medical care. Some illnesses have mild symptoms that can be managed with home care, but if you have ongoing or persistent symptoms, sick visits can help you find a path toward better recovery.

During telehealth visits at Prosperity Health and Wellness, Melinda can evaluate symptoms such as:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Diarrhea
  • Pink eye
  • Flu and the common cold
  • Skin rashes
  • Bug bites
  • Earache
  • Headache
  • Cold sores

If you have unusual symptoms that persist more than a couple of days, it’s best to schedule a sick visit and get evaluated by a medical professional.

What happens during a sick visit?

During your sick visit, you meet with Melinda at your scheduled appointment time virtually. You can connect to the telehealth platform using a phone, tablet, or computer.

Melinda gathers information on your medical history and discusses the symptoms you’re experiencing. She may ask you questions, such as when your illness started and how you have treated it so far.

She may recommend diagnostic testing if you have a sore throat or other health conditions. If you have a skin rash or bug bite, she may conduct a virtual exam and ask you to point your device’s camera so she can get a better look at the site.

Melinda may also advise you on whether you should stay at home (with conditions such as the flu or common cold) and provide medical guidance to help you get better as soon as possible.

If you need a sick visit, same-day and 24/7 appointments are available. Call Prosperity Health and Wellness or book a telehealth appointment online today.
